Can't believe it's almost been one week since our new president was inaugurated. I had such a blast in Washington, DC. One of my favorite experiences was tagging along with my brother and his friend delivering hot chocolate to members of the Iowa National Guard. The soldiers were ordered to secure an area just north of the capitol. That meant they would have to stay outside for 24 hours in the freezing cold. They took a minute to pose with me. What an honor. They had such a sense of pride and duty. And they really appreciated the warm cocoa.

What a great wedding to kick off the new year!

Kate and Ricki and their family and friends were so great! It seems like years ago when I first met this couple. They definitely knew what they wanted for their wedding day. And from everything I could see, it was a total success...and blast! This was a dancing crowd and knew how to party. 

I loved shooting at the Melrose Hotel. It was such a beautiful place with the open space in the lobby lit by all that soft, natural lighting. When the sun went down and the candles were lit, the place glowed.
